Norwood Together presents at Hamilton County Commissioner Staff Meeting
On Tuesday, July 30, our Executive Director Ron Mosby spoke at the Hamilton County Commissioners Staff Meeting. Ron, along with interns Andrew Guthrie and Jessica Shepker, were invited by Steve Johns, the Assistant Director of Planning and Development at Hamilton County, to present Norwood Together to the Commissioners. Director Johns shared with the Commissioners how community development corporations (CDCs) like Norwood Together are in a unique situation in Hamilton County, because they are outside of the city of Cincinnati and are currently not eligible for support funding that CDCs in the city of Cincinnati receive. Johns expressed the need CDCs like Norwood Together have for technical and operating support in order to expand their capabilities and further their positive impact.
Ron was able to speak about the six community engagement programs Norwood Together has, including our welcome bags, which each of the Commissioners received. He also expressed Norwood Together’s desire to support Norwood in additional areas, which could be made possible through funding from Hamilton County. Commissioner Driehaus even asked about the progress of the former bingo hall on Montgomery Rd. Overall, it was a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Hamilton County.
